What does What Am I Using? show?
It shows the browser and operating system your device reports, the public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses we can verify, an estimated-area map, an optional internet speed test, and screen and browser settings that can help with technical support.
Is this tool free?
Yes. You can use the checker and create a support report without an account or payment. Advertising and clearly labelled affiliate links may help fund the site.
Why does it say Windows 10 or 11?
Those systems can use the same traditional user-agent string. When supported, Client Hints help distinguish them. Otherwise we show the uncertainty instead of guessing. Check your Windows version on your computer.
Are there other free tools here?
Yes. Test your webcam and microphone, create QR codes, look up domains, convert text and dates, and more. Open More tools above, or browse the footer. The full FAQ covers the whole collection.
Ethernet or Wi-Fi: getting the best from your connection
For a fast, consistent connection, try Ethernet where practical. Your cables, ports and broadband plan still set the limits. These practical guides from Switched On Network show how to make and connect network cables.

What does this internet speed test measure?
Open the full internet speed test, or press Start speed test above for a short check of download and upload rates, latency and jitter. The test runs directly against Cloudflare. Choose Quick (up to 80 MB) or Longer (up to 200 MB) for more samples on fast connections. It never starts automatically.
Download and upload
Mbps means megabits per second. Download affects receiving files and video; upload affects sending files and your outgoing video on calls. The longer mode takes more samples. Both modes measure transfers to Cloudflare and can differ from tests designed to measure peak broadband speed.
Latency and jitter
Latency is the time a request takes to respond. Jitter is variation between response times. Lower, steadier values can help calls and games feel more responsive.
Compare like with like
Try a quiet connection, then compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection where possible. Other downloads, mobile signal, a VPN and your device can change the result. One test cannot identify every cause of a slow connection.
The test service may temporarily limit requests. Interrupted runs show partial estimates; these can still be included in your support report with a clear label.
Why is my result different from Speedtest.net?
Different tests use different servers and methods. This test measures transfers to Cloudflare; Speedtest.net can use multiple connections to measure available capacity. Neither result guarantees the speed of every website or download. The longer option takes more samples, but results can still differ.
Check speed, connection stability and browser details here, then copy a support report. No app download or account needed.
