Practical technical support
Find and update your browser
Updates can fix compatibility and security problems. Start by finding out which browser you are using.
Check the browser name and reported version
Open What Am I Using? in the browser you want to check. Each browser on your device can have a different version. If this tool cannot show the full version, the browser’s own About screen is the better place to check.
Use the browser’s own updater
- Google Chrome update instructions
- Microsoft Edge update settings
- Mozilla Firefox update instructions
- Apple Safari update instructions
Desktop browsers usually have an About or Help section that checks for updates. On phones and tablets, browser updates may come through the app store or an operating-system update. Follow the maker’s instructions for your device.
On a work device?
Your IT team may manage browser updates. Ask them if an update is unavailable or needs administrator permission.
Return to the original problem
Save your work before restarting a browser. After updating, try the affected page again. If it still fails, note the new version in your support request.
